Villa Morelia

Villa Morelia – A Place to Linger

After a long yet scenic journey from Courmayeur over the Col du Petit Saint-Bernard — a majestic alpine pass that winds its way through the heart of the mountains — we arrived in the charming village of Jausiers (F) in the late afternoon. From the very first glimpse, it was clear: something special awaited us here.

The entrance to Villa Morelia is truly impressive – lined with centuries-old trees, manicured gardens, and an elegant Belle Époque mansion. The villa exudes historic charm and grandeur without ever feeling pretentious. Instead, it warmly invites you to arrive, breathe, and stay.

We were warmly welcomed by Robert, the host. With his genuine, discreet manner and a warm smile, it was immediately clear that true hospitality lives here. He personally showed us to our room – Deluxe category, number 104 – tastefully furnished, with large windows and a breathtaking view of the surrounding mountains. The late afternoon sun cast a golden glow over the peaks.

After a brief moment of relaxation in the refreshing pool and the beautifully landscaped garden – accompanied by a cool drink – we experienced the highlight of the day: dinner at the in-house gourmet restaurant, proudly recommended in the Michelin Guide. The dining room is classically elegant, with white linens and fresh flowers. What followed was a series of regional dishes elevated with creative finesse – each plate a small work of art. The tender duck breast and the dessert with multiple chocolate creations stood out in particular – refined, balanced, and utterly delightful.

After dinner, we strolled through the park. The air was mild, the sky clear, and in the distance, we could hear the gentle murmur of a mountain stream. Surrounded by nature and embraced by silence, the day came to a perfect close.

The next morning, bathed in sunlight, we brewed a coffee on the balcony of our room and took in the crisp morning air. It awakened our senses. With such a start, we felt energized for new adventures in the southern Alps – all the way up to the Col du Bonnet. Still, the idea of simply spending another peaceful day at Villa Morelia was just as tempting.

Conclusion:
Villa Morelia is no ordinary hotel. It is a place where history, style, and heartfelt hospitality come together in perfect harmony. Robert and his team create an atmosphere that is both restful and inspiring – ideal for connoisseurs, seekers of tranquility, and travelers with a taste for the extraordinary.

We’ll be back – without a doubt.
